How to Choose the Right PWC Floor Mat for Your Sea-Doo, Yamaha, or Kawasaki

Don't Guess on Your PWC Mat — Get It Right the First Time

A floor mat isn't just cosmetic. On a personal watercraft, your traction mat is the difference between a confident stance at 60 mph and a slippery wipeout at the dock. Whether you're riding a Sea-Doo Spark Trixx, a Yamaha FX Cruiser HO, or a Kawasaki Ultra 310, fitment and material both matter.

Step 1: Know Your Hull Platform

PWC mats are hull-specific — a mat cut for a Sea-Doo Spark will not fit a Yamaha VX Cruiser. Before you buy, confirm:

  • Brand: Sea-Doo, Yamaha, Kawasaki, or Polaris (Sealion)
  • Model: Spark, GTI, GTX, RXP-X / FX, VX, EX / Ultra, STX / Sealion X
  • Year: Hull designs change between model years — a 2019 GTI 130 and a 2023 GTI 130 are not the same cut
  • Seating configuration: 2-up vs. 3-up affects rear deck mat coverage

Pro tip: Check your hull's VIN plate (usually inside the engine bay or on the starboard side) to confirm the exact model year.

Step 2: Choose Your Material

Most aftermarket PWC mats come in two materials:

  • EVA foam: Lightweight, UV-resistant, and easy on bare feet. Best for recreational riders and families. Softer grip, but excellent cushioning for long days on the water.
  • Diamond-grip rubber / traction pad: Aggressive texture for maximum grip. Preferred by freestyle riders, racers, and anyone doing aggressive cornering. Harder on skin if you're riding in board shorts.

For the Sea-Doo Spark Trixx specifically — a freestyle-oriented ski — a full-coverage diamond-grip mat is the go-to. The Trixx is designed for tricks and jumps; you need every inch of grip you can get.

Step 3: Decide on Coverage Area

Mat kits typically cover:

  • Front deck only — minimal, budget-friendly
  • Rear deck + boarding step — most popular; covers where you actually stand and re-board
  • Full coverage kit — front, rear, side bolsters, and boarding platform; best for performance and resale value

If you're doing any kind of aggressive riding or frequently re-boarding in open water, go full coverage. The extra grip on the boarding platform alone is worth it.

Step 4: Color and Customization

Most quality mat kits come in black, but premium brands offer color-matched or two-tone options. If you're building a show ski or want a clean aesthetic, coordinate your mat color with your hull graphics and seat cover.

Quick Fitment Reference

  • Sea-Doo Spark / Spark Trixx (2014+): Compact hull — verify 2-up vs. 3-up before ordering
  • Sea-Doo GTI / GTX (2018+): Redesigned hull — not compatible with pre-2018 mats
  • Sea-Doo RXP-X / RXT-X: Performance hull with aggressive deck contours — use performance-specific kits
  • Yamaha VX / EX series: Measure rear deck width; varies between trim levels
  • Yamaha FX series: Larger hull — confirm FX Cruiser vs. FX HO vs. FX SVHO
  • Kawasaki Ultra 310 / STX 160: Touring-class hulls; full coverage kits recommended
